Flash ad was one of the most use ad format in Google Adwords. But now you can no more use flash file in ads. “From June 30, 2016, you’ll no longer be able to upload display ads built in Flash. And, starting in January 2017, AdWords will stop running display ads in the Flash format.” said in the Google Adwords update. Those who are already running the flash ads in their ongoing adwords campaign, they can switch to HTML5 ads in 2 ways:
- Create HTML5 ads with Google tools (available in English only), including Google Web Designer
- Upload your own HTML5 ads (Created by you only)
WHAT CAN YOU DO IF YOUR FLASH ADS ARE ALREADY RUNNING?
If you have already flash ads uploaded on adwords, you have to now upload new ads created with HTML5. Before creating and uploading the ad, you can check the requirements here.
After creating the ad and before uploading it, we recommend you to validate your ad to match the Google’s policy. Validate your HTML5 ads here.
It’s always a challenge to create the compelling ads for adwords and now as SWF format is no more used, it becomes more challenging to create the compelling which can drive the traffic on your landing page. You can follow the best practices here to create the best ads for your campaigns.
If you created Flash ads in the AdWords Ad gallery using any “General purpose” templates (except the “Automatic layout – classic design” template), it is recommended to create new image ads by using one of these methods:
- Uploading a new image ad or an HTML5 ad
- Creating a new template ad with AdWords “ad ideas.”
