I was 4 years old when Surat was caught up in the plague in 1994. People started migrating to different places and no one knew till when Surat will come back in the original decorum. The evergreen people of Surat did it in no time with the help of Surat Municipal Corporation then. Even no one was prepared for back to back floods in one decade. Surat agonised with disastrous natural calamity in 2006 when I saw many people suffered due to flood water. They literally lost their valuable belongings in the flood and many lost their near ones. The textile city was in the water and there was a huge loss to the industry. The Nation and the State were praying for Surat. The only thing between 1994 and 2006 which did not change was the true spirit of Surat. “Live life king size mantra” gave this city an avatar of a phoenix which no natural calamity could ever destroy the city and I am sure will never destroy it ever.
It’s not only me who thinks high for the great spirit of Surat but all my Surti brothers and sisters also have a similar thought process and that is the real beauty of this city. This fact is not limited to the boundary of this city only. Wherever and whenever I go in any part of India or in any part of the World, everywhere this spirit of Surat is known and that has always made me feel proud because Surat is also considered as mini India, people from entire country have come in Surat and settled here. This spirit of Surat is not hidden from Prime Minister of India as well and what a reception given to him when he came to this city on 16th April 2017.
The grand welcome was yet another example of “larger than life” spirit of Surtis. Even after 15 days, the charm, the charisma and the personality of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji have apprehended almost whole mind space of all those people who have witnessed his grand road show. No wonder, the magic of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji is unmatched which once again proved in the recently held MCD election in Delhi.
While we are talking about the grand show of Prime Minister Narendra Modiji in Surat, over 25,000 bikers escorted PM Modi along the 12-kilometre long road starting from Surat airport to circuit house at Athwagate. The charm of Modiji was unmatchable when he was continuously waving hands throughout his road show to lacs of people standing on both the side of the roads. The strong presence of State BJP Leaders, local BJP leaders and root level workers did not keep a single stone untouched to make this grand road show a historical one which people will remember for decades. To portray the power of textile industry, 12 KM long digital print saree depicted different schemes launched under Modiji’s leadership. The idea of highlighting all the schemes was not a mere marketing gimmick; it was a reminder to the citizen to take advantage of these schemes which were designed keeping “common man” in the centre. This concept of saree was conceptualised by Disha Foundation of Surat. You talk about the sand art made by Sudarshan Pattnaik or gigantic caricatures of Prime Minister on different places on the route or even the huge statue- everything was speaking about his hard work to bring nation stand tall at global stage, love for this country, concern for the common people of this country and a single vision agenda of the Central Government – “Sabka sath, sabka Vikas” with the core focus on “Integral Humanism” which was given to the World by Pandit Deendayal UpadhyayJi.
I am a very small worker of BJP, walking on the pathway of BJP under the Leadership of Prime Minister Modiji and BJP President Amit Shahji. What I have seen is a trust in the eyes of every single person of this city.
As Surat is my city, I believe the trust built up by the Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modiji will sustain even during the 2019 election. My role is to replicate his vision to every single individual of this region and help them in taking advantage of the Government schemes made for them and I am sure, I will not disappoint anyone.
Jai Hind.
